They're Called the Rules....Learn 'Em

Will someone please clarify Maryland traffic law for me? I suppose it is possible that Maryland has completely different rules, but I thought that some things were givens. Yesterday, I saw a guy trying to take a left at a busy intersection. He was pulled forward, in the fashion that (I thought) is standard. However, when his light turned red, instead of taking his left and getting out of the intersection, and clearing the way for those behind him at the next green, he BACKS UP out of the intersection and waits through the next red light. Ok, I thought, this guy doesn't know how to drive.
Then today, I'm trying to take a left at a busy intersection, pulled up as I thought this was perfectly legitimate. When the light turned red and I was finally able to take my turn, the guy on the street perpendicular to me, who of course now has a green light, is waving his arms and obviously yelling angrily at me. What did he think I was going to do? Apparently put the car in reverse and wait for his sorry ass. Sorry, I dont think so. Around here, you'd never make a left if you had to wait for no one to be coming the opposite direction. I've also seen some other classic moves, like a person taking a left out of a side street onto a busy highway completely cutting off a person trying to take a left onto his side street. I guess the rules here are "Douchebags Always Have the Right of Way"

Tater Tots and Beer

Jonah took me to this place in Silver Spring that had lots of great beer, and fridays at the d-hall quality tater tots.
"So you have seven kids?" "Yeah, they all still live in Africa though. I get them a happy meal once a month" "Well, 'happy' is the key word there" "Actually, I think it's 'meal'"

Cape Cod

Some highlights from this year's Cape Cod vacation:

Did Dr. Seuss build this or something...

Too bad Mom doesn't get a bib with all food she orders

I'm pretty sure this is the greatest picture ever

And in keeping with the "Ellen biting the lobster claw" theme, we took these photos with the junk shop's plastic lobster

And these were amazing...Too bad they were too small for actual use, or we would have bought ones for everyone we know

21st Birthday Glasses!!

This was right after Mom hit the ball so hard it flew off the green, rolled down the hill of rocks, and went right into the previous hole. It was kind of a hole in one...just not the right one

Here you can kind of get an idea of how ugly my stepdad's hat was. He wore that all day, every day that we were there, ostensibly "to protect his ears from the sun," which apparently includes nighttime and cloudy days. I tried to pretend I didn't know him whenever possible

Here the hat is also featured prominently

I could caption these. But honestly, why bother.

Mass with Alex : )

Alex was like, there's this mini golf place near me that has dinosaurs! And I was like, um, why are we not there. So then we were, and it was awesome

This "Pteradactyl" totally looks like a goose

And I don't know what "Billy" the chipmunk is doing at Jurassic Mini Golf. Maybe he went back in time

"Terrain"? This place really takes itself seriously

"Angie" the rabbit. Fellow time traveler of Billy
