The Weathervane

This weekend we made it to restaurant number two on the list, the Weathervane. This place would be completely at home in Maine or Massachusetts, but that makes it sort of out of place here. It's completely ok though, cause sometimes Saratoga Springsians need a taste of the briny deep. I was a little disappointed that our waiter didn't have a peg leg and a bushy white beard (Rich said he wished we'd been served by the Gordon's fish mascot, and I couldn't agree more), but our dude was pretty funny so it was ok. We got there just at the tail end of the 5 o'clock rush, but once all the geezers cleared out to go to bed we pretty much had the place to ourselves. That allowed us to giggle as loud as we wanted when our lobsters stared at us with their beady little spider eyes. Shellfish and I have spent a long time apart ever since I developed an allergy to them at age 6, but I've decided to give them another try to see what happens. I felt like eating a whole lobster was an experience I really needed to have before I die (which could be at any minute, especially if I keep eating things I'm allergic to), so bring on the cracker and bib. I did feel pretty crappy afterwards though, so that little mofo got me back for having him boiled alive and then pulling off all his limbs one by one. I guess our tender moment wasn't a good enough repayment.
